I despise big lights, thrive off lamp lighting, and strongly believe in ambiance — even in (or maybe especially in?) spaces like the bathroom/toilet room. I think we have all our overhead lights on dimmers at this point, but even then, unless it’s in a utilitarian space, I stick to lamp lighting. But, when you have an aversion to bright lights in the home, making sure you have well placed lamps positioned all around becomes even more important. And while I love a gorgeous table lamp, table lamps rely on tables, substantial surface space, and more furniture being present, in general. Floor lamps, on the other hand, can slide right into just about any space, without pre-requisites. Since I was recently on the hunt for a new floor lamp — actually, not just on a hunt, but switching out one floor lamp for another because of functionality reasons — I thought it was the perfect time to talk about where/when I like to use floor lamps, what kinds I prefer in what spaces, and share my 80 top floor lamps I found across eight different categories in my personal and specific search.

The Smart Bulbs I Love
Before we get to the lamps, let’s quickly chat about the most important part of the lamp first — the bulbs. If you don’t have smart bulbs, grab THIS 3-pack and try them stat. We started with one for each of our nightstands before expanding to other lamps, so naturally, this was the bulb I put in my floor lamp. I can control it with my phone (the power, the brightness, the color, the warmth), and also with our Amazon Echo. It can be any shade/warmth of white, but it can be any color in the spectrum of the rainbow, too. I can even ask Echo to turn on all the bedroom lights and she’ll activate the bedside and floor lamps. You can get as sophisticated (even put them on an auto-schedule) or simple as you like but trust — THESE are awesome.
The Floor Lamp I’m Switching Out (& Why)
I’ve had THIS gold task light in my bedroom sitting area since 2016 I believe, and it’s served me through different setups and different space purposes. I have so many big pieces over here (my treadmill is on the far left) so a floor lamp that doesn’t take up surface space was a no-brainer. But… a few things… 1. There are no other lights in the bedroom nook, and 2. most nights you’ll find me sitting in my chair, reading and listening to vinyl and a task light isn’t conducive to my preferred Kindle reading. As a matter of fact, instead of a focused light, I decided a lamp that better illuminates the entire space would be more well suited for the room and the way I use the space.

1. Task Light Floor Lamps
While I decided that a task light was no longer the best and most appropriate type of light for my little bedroom nook, I still love a task light as an accompanying light in spaces that have other light sources. Coming in at several price points with multiple finishes and adjustable features and base sizes, here are a few of my top picks…
1. Cintia Floor Lamp | 2. Adjustable Task Floor Lamp | 3. Cupola Floor Lamp | 4. Chambers Leather Adjustable Lamp | 5. Sherman Task Floor Lamp | 6. James Floor Lamp | 7. Sherman Metal Articulating Lamp | 8. Adjustable Height Swing Arm Brass Lamp | 9. Raven Floor Lamp | 10. Watkins Task Light Floor Lamp
THIS floor lamp (Number 1) is my absolute favorite. I love the bent shape, am obsessed with the rattan scalloped shade, am crushing hard over the brass base wrapped in rattan, and the price is phenomenal.
One of my favorite tips is to check lighting at PB Kids and PB Teen as their lighting can absolutely be suited for the entire house, but is typically priced much much lower. THIS adjustable task floor lamp (Number 2) (adjusts from 46″ to 59″) is on clearance, too!
In the living room, I’ve had this (similar to Number 2) bent arm task light positioned in some way for the past decade.
Woven Bar Stools | Leather Arm Chairs
Chandelier | Wool Jute Rug | Sofas | Leather Arm Chairs | X Stool | Coffee Table | Large Stoneware Vase | Faux Magnolia Stems (similar) | Brass Bucket | Large Wood Wall Art
Positioning different types of light with and without standard shades also makes it a lot easier to mix lighting within a room.
Wood Accent Table | Mercury Candle

2. Adjustable Floor Lamps
Adjustable base floor lamps are a fantastic way to ensure versatility and longevity
1. Leather Adjustable Floor Lamp | 2. Kyrid Modern Floor Lamp | 3. Adjustable Modern Rattan Lamp | 4. Telescoping Metal Floor Lamp | 5. Shaw Floor Lamp | 6. Visual Comfort Signature | 7. Marble and Brass Telescoping Lamp | 8. Chelsea Adjustable Metal Floor Lamp | 9. Telescoping Adjustable Floor Lamp | 10. Metal Adjustable Reading Lamp
Number 3 comes in both black and brass and I adore the rattan wrapped detail. It’s also rated almost a perfect 5 stars, is a fantastic budget find, and ships free!
Number 5 is a Serena & Lily lamp so it’s on the pricier side, but it is currently 20% off HERE.
If you can’t decide between black or brass or are looking to tie in both finishes to bring the room together, Number 9 is a fantastic choice.
Number 10 is a cute, understated choice for a reading chair, that won’t compete with other statement lights in your space.
One of my absolute favorite lamps is Number 1 — the shape of the shade, the brass wrapped in cognac leather… it’s perfection.
3. Bent Neck Floor Lamps
Especially great when you plan to sidle up a floor lamp to a sofa or incorporate lighting into a sitting area, here are some beautiful bent neck floor lamps that make it easy to reposition the lamp in different floor positions.
1. Scallop Rattan Floor Lamp | 2. Paper Pleated Shade Floor Lamp | 3. Metal Floor Lamp | 4. Odette Floor Lamp With Scalloped Shade | 5. Arched Floor Lamp | 6. Leather Wrapped Floor Lamp | 7. Rattan Task Floor Lamp | 8. Elorah Floor Lamp | 9. Gooseneck Floor Lamp | 10. Iron Articulating Lamp
Number 2 is a unique Anthro find and it’s currently on SUPER sale!
Number 9 has a gorgeous rattan shade and is a budget find, coming in at just $90!
Number 5 is another budget find and currently has 4 shade color options. It also ships free, as do many others in this post.
The scalloped shade statement on Number 4 is absolutely stunning.
I am a total fan of the timeless design of Number 10 — which comes in both brass and black.
Also a big fan of the overall design and aesthetic of Number 7.
4. Kid Friendly Floor Lamps
I think just about any lamp can be “kid friendly” but if we’re talking more whimsical or romantic details — these lamps would be fabulous in a child’s room, nursery, playroom, etc.
1. Adjustable Floor Lamp | 2. Eyelet Bow Lamp | 3. Gold Metal Birds On Branches Floor Lamp | 4. Scalloped Raffia Shade Floor Lamp | 5. Flower Floor Lamp | 6. Pleated Linen Shade Floor Lamp | 7. Camellia Brass Floor Lamp | 8. Fluted Shade Floor Lamp | 9. Spindle Floor Lamp | 10. Antique Gold Floor Lamp
I love the sweet scalloped detail on Number 1 for a nursery or kid’s bedroom, but honestly, I love it for other spaces too!
For the girliest girls and most feminine nurseries, check out Number 2 — a LoveShack Fancy x PB Kids collab.
The spindle-based Number 9 is on clearance right now!
Number 10 is a highly rated designer look-alike for a fraction of the price that ships free!
Here’s a look back at Eliza’s nursery lighting…

I loved her bubble base floor lamp so much and while the detail was adorable in her nursery, it totally transcends ages and spaces. I now have it in my office!

5. Bubble Base Floor Lamps
Speaking of bubble base floor lamps, here are 10 pretty choices in different finishes, sizes, price points, and with varying shades…
1. Orchard Floor Lamp | 2. Stacked Brass Ball Lamp | 3. White Wood Ball Floor Lamp | 4. Dark Wood Stacked Wood Floor Lamp | 5. Brown Bubble Floor Lamp | 6. Natural Stacked Wood Floor Lamp | 7. Black Wooden Accent Lamp | 8. Jute Shade Floor Lamp | 9. Ruby Floor Lamp | 10. Maple Wood Floor Lamp
Number 2 is actually a budget find on Amazon, ships free, and comes in both silver and gold.
And here is Eliza’s former bubble base lamp that now resides in my office…
Floor Lamp | Fabric Bins | Guitar Mount
More often than not, you’ll find this lamp glowing — especially at night and early in the morning.
Floor Lamp | Sideboard | Fabric Bins | Chair | Pillow | Frame TV | Frame TV Art | Guitar Mount
My former bubble base floor lamp from our previous formal living room is on clearance right now HERE.
6. Slender Floor Lamps
Part of the appeal of floor lamps is their ability to seamlessly fit into any space, without actually taking up space. If you’re in tight quarters or don’t want your floor lamp to be the size of a piece of furniture, here are some of my favorite slim silhouetted floor lamps. BTW — if you are extremely tight on space (not just floor space), be sure to check the diameter of the shade in the dimensions on the listings!
1. Cordless Floor Lamp | 2. Antique Brass Floor Lamp | 3. Terrace Floor Lamp | 4. Metal Adjustable Floor Lamp | 5. Palmer Floor Lamp | 6. Polished Brass Floor Lamp | 7. Fluted Shade Floor Lamp | 8. Matthews Floor Lamp | 9. Arlie Floor Lamp | 10. Polished Nickel Cordless Floor Lamp
I absolutely ADORE Lamp Number 4 — so much that it was almost my ultimate choice for my bedroom nook. The price was right, it’s adjustable, I love the slim shade and the black/gold base combo, but I ultimately wasn’t sure if the height would be tall enough. Turns out, it would have been…
If you’re hoping for an extra tall floor lamp, Number 5 is stunning and comes in at 66″.
7. On Budget Floor Lamps (All Under $250)
There are several budget options within each of the aforementioned categories but I thought highlighting some of the most cost-friendly floor lamps was worthy of a call-out, all on its own.
1. Gold Floor Lamp | 2. Ramez Metal Floor Lamp | 3. Jeremy Floor Lamp | 4. Ollie Floor Lamp | 5. Wavy Shade Ceramic Base Floor Lamp | 6. Three Leg Floor Lamp | 7. Black Floor Lamp | 8. Marty Floor Lamp | 9. Baldwin Floor Lamp | 10. Adjustable Floor Lamp w/Drum Shade
So, this is crazy but I found Number 3 and was going to order it for my space from PB Teen (HERE). Coincidentally, I found the exact same lamp on Amazon for half the price, and with free shipping HERE! You can also find it in gold HERE.
Number 4 comes in a BUNCH of different finishes! It also ships free.
At only $110, Number 6 looks so much higher end than its price tag.
Number 10 is under $90, ships free, is adjustable, and comes in three finish options!
And ultimately, I chose THIS budget lamp with accordion style shade off Amazon! It has free shipping and free returns but my lamp came perfectly packaged and was put together in less than five minutes.
Before: Floor Lamp | Storage Ottoman | Area Rug | Shelving Unit | Turntable | Speakers | Storage Boxes (set of 2) | Bird Wall Art 1 | Bird Wall Art 2
After: Floor Lamp | Storage Ottoman | Area Rug | Shelving Unit | Turntable | Speakers | Bird Wall Art 1 | Bird Wall Art 2
It’s such a small trade but I love that my nook can now be softly illuminated — something the task lighting didn’t do as well in the evening — and I can better see my records and relax. And again, if you don’t have smart bulbs, grab THIS 3-pack and try them stat. We started with one for each of our nightstands before expanding to other lamps, so naturally, this was the bulb I put in my floor lamp. I can control it with my phone (the power, the brightness, the color, the warmth), and also with our Amazon Echo. I can even ask Echo to turn on all the bedroom lights and she’ll activate the bedside and floor lamps. You can get as sophisticated or simple as you like but trust — THESE are awesome.

8. (More) Pretty Floor Lamps
I found so many gorgeous floor lamps and when I wrapped the seven categories, I just had to include the following, also — some of my favorite floor lamps.
1. Janie Floor Lamp | 2. Islington Floor Lamp | 3. Rattan Floor Lamp | 4. Rattan Geometric Floor Lamp | 5. Annika Floor Lamp | 6. Brass Glass Floor Lamp | 7. Rattan and Brass Floor Lamp | 8. Elijah Floor Lamp | 9. Twisted Metal Floor Lamp | 10. Brookings Floor Lamp
Number 2 is spendy but she is gorgeous! And right now, she’s 20% off HERE.
I’m also totally in love with the colors and details of Number 3. Wow!
I’m such a sucker for the warm wood and brass combo with tradition and modern mix of Number 7!
