Happy Fourth of July weekend! We have been busily preparing for the festivities and are looking forward to hosting a few overnight guests after the celebrating has come to an end. While we are getting the house in order, working on meals, checking our fireworks stock, and still tending to our regular chores, I wanted to take a time out to assemble a couple simple welcoming trays in our guest bedrooms for the occasion. We haven’t had two guest rooms occupied at once it a long time, so it is quite an event for us. Flowers are typical but I wanted to step up my hostessing game just a bit, and let our friends know how excited we are to have them join us for the Fourth.
Like I said, these are super simple touches but knowing how much I look forward to the goodies my mom leaves on the bedside table when I visit, I wanted to start a similar tradition and set the expectation.
Patriotic peonies, a couple of waters, candies, mints, the WIFI password, and some festive sparklers will be waiting for our friends when the settle in their rooms.
“Some” of us have a habit of making “Irish exits” (if you aren’t sure what that is, Google it… you may be a culprit too!) so having the essentials on hand without having to reappear is something I would appreciate.
I actually just scored this oversized woven tray today at the Pottery Barn Outlet for 40% off and am in love! My mom had encouraged me to go for it last time we were there together; I have regretted not ever since so I was thrilled to spy it again today.
Speaking of Pottery Barn, they are currently having their Buy More Save More event. Here are some of my most frequently asked about pieces that you can score on sale now, including my master and guest bedding, living room wingback chairs, and my tall tufted master bed, up to 25% off.
