Ok, so I am still a little over a week away from decorating for Christmas, but I just received something in the mail that I couldn’t wait to share.
I have been on the hunt for Christmas pillows to incorporate into my base of neutral pillows (I try to keep several lighter colors as a base so I’m only switching a couple out seasonally), and I have absolutely brought home the occasional beaded “joy” and “noel” from some of my favorite retailers. But, when I found Bows and Burlap, an online shop with the the most adorable, custom handmade pillows, I was so excited to pick something unique that I wouldn’t be able to find at HomeGoods or Pier 1.
Growing up in the south, Alabama’s Christmas album is king and “Christmas in Dixie” has been my favorite holiday song since I was wearing footie pajamas, listening to Randy Owen on a cassette tape, and drinking “special” cocktails under the Christmas tree (basically, ,Shirley Temples). Maybe it’s because the one lyric, “…and in Atlanta, Georgia, there’s peace on earth tonight”gave me a sense of hometown pride… I could ramble on about tradition and nostalgia, but when I saw that each pillow at Bows and Burlap was made to order (they already have literally hundreds of amazing designs listed), I asked if they could design a “Christmas in Dixie” pillow. They could, they did, and I LOVE IT.
Like I said, I haven’t brought out the Christmas just yet, so I mixed it in with my general fall decor. As much as I love cute pillows with polyfill (I still have several), nothing beats a plump, stuffed down insert, especially since they withstand the repeated squishing of my dogs’ naps. The Bows and Burlap inserts are perfect; they look plush and can be fluffed without going flat.
While I will keep the pillow downstairs for guests to see, I couldn’t resist trying it on our bed; the colors are perfect for my neutral-loving heart!
The quality of both the cover and the insert is phenomenal.
I have no idea where it will end up once I start decorating for Christmas, but I love it here in the entry where it isn’t competing among other pillows.
I actually did have a wreath I had pulled out for family Christmas card photos and couldn’t resist testing the two together.
As much as I love my new Christmas pillow and cannot wait to continue to browse their shop for other custom textiles, here is the good news. For the next week, Bows and Burlap is offering 20% off all orders with the promo code KELLEYNAN20. Whether you are in search of a gift, holiday decor, or everyday home staples, head on over and check them out here. *Offer valid until 11/25/15
