Canvas Log Carrier // We live for fires in our wood burning fireplace during winter but finally, after watching my nice, decorative baskets serve as wood transportation, I am finally ordering Dave a durable standing log carrier. Patagonia Zip Front Jacket // If you have a man in your life who has two outdoor looks- 1- ready for the office or 2- ready for hunting without an inbetween, well, join the club! I love this knit Patagonia that’s casual enough for errands but polished enough for dinner. It’s also layerable and can be worn as an outer jacket, or beneath a heavier coat.

BBQ Guru Temperature Control // Dave is a Big Green Egg addict; to this day, six years after we purchased our first one, we continue to use them multiple times each week. Yes, we do the standard grilling but Dave loves the ability to smoke meat overnight for long, slow cooks for the most tender brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. Enter- the BBQ Guru. It’s what actually allows Dave to cook overnight without having to wake up constantly to check the grill.  It’s essentially a temperature regulation system with two probes (one for the food and one for the grill) and a variable speed fan that holds the constant proper temperature. While Dave’s alerts by alarm, THIS ONE is wireless and actually alerts you on your phone when your meat is finished. I believe it’s also supported by Amazon Echo.

If you haven’t met one of these electric starters, you can actually get that grill going in two minutes now, instead of waiting for things to heat up over the course of 30. We keep an extension cord handy in an outdoor storage box, specifically for ours.

Wusthof In-Drawer Gourmet Steak Knives // Again for the grill masters – if they take pride in the cut of beef they’ve cooked, they definitely don’t want to have to saw at it afterwards with dull, cheap blades. I love that these slide and store inside a drawer, rather than occupying counter space and wish we had this style…

Bucket Head Portable Vacuum// We do have a shop vac but one day, I noticed that the vacuum Dave always seemed to use on our deck and around the grills (and inside the grills) was something that looked like a hose attachment, secured to a bucket. Apparently it’s smaller and more portable than the typical shop vac; the head attachment will fit on most 5 gallon buckets (that can be picked up at Home Depot) which makes it easy to take to a job site (Dave’s words verbatim haha). It’s powerful, compact and convenient and Dave especially likes to use his to suck out the grill ashes (after they have completely cooled in following days).

Telescope // We just ordered this starter telescope for our nephews this Christmas. Each year, we try to think outside the box, just a little bit, to get them a joint gift to enjoy together. From sleeping bags and teepees to yard games, a combined gift allows us to spend just a little more than we normally would. If you’re out of ideas for adolescents and don’t want to give them the next trendy thing, consider an old classic.
