Recipes From Gran Nan’s Kitchen
I think coleslaw, in any form or fashion, is a great cold salad side dish to make and serve in any season. As a bonus, I believe it also “checks the box” for a green vegetable. While the traditional creamy slaw (see our recipe HERE) is the most traditional recipe, some folks don’t like mayo, so they aren’t a fan. Enter… this Asian Slaw recipe with ramen and an oil and vinegar base — no mayo in sight!

This tangy Asian Slaw is a great alternative to the mayo-dressed variety and is another recipe that I “borrowed” from Kelley Nan’s Aunt Suze, as she served it to me first. I especially like to serve Asian Slaw with grilled or barbecued proteins. Any carb side, from potatoes to rice to pasta, is a great addition to round out a meal. It’s also the perfect topping for fish or shrimp tacos.

When to Serve Asian Slaw with Ramen?
Since this coleslaw recipe doesn’t include mayonnaise, it’s a perfect dish to serve and travel to picnics and pot lucks. It’s also a great side dish to serve at gatherings, luncheons, cookouts and family suppers. The recipe can easily be doubled, if you’re feeding a crowd!
