Snack Around the Plate — Preppy Style, A New Porch, & Thriving In the Analog Era

I haven’t shared a Snack Around the Plate since last August and I was desperate to share some of the randomness going on around here. I could have kept going but I had to cap it at some point, so let’s go ahead and jump into the latest!

What is a “Snack Around the Plate”? Growing up, this was the phrase my mom called meals she would assemble with random favorites when scouring the pantry and fridge. And, while each item didn’t totally go together, assembled as one collective, I loved them! Basically, “Snack Around the Plate” posts are just a smorgasbord of randomness — “a little of this and a little of that” from all things lifestyle. It’s a mish-mosh highlight reel from a favorite recipes to favorite finds.

1. Preppy Fits

I have fully embraced my ballpark sports mom identity and dressing up my athleisure and casual basics just a smidge on game days has been so fun. I love a cap, a comfy trouser, a pullover/button down, slides and sneakers, and a cute scarf to top it off.

3. Alice Lane Bubble Candle Coaster

4. New Back Porch Setup

This is the summer we’re changing up our 10-year old outdoor sectional! It’s bulky, we don’t use the space, and we’ve had it going on 11 years now. I ordered four swivel chairs in lieu of a traditional setup for our back porch — better for games, our space, overflow eating, etc. — along with a table and 8′ square rug that will fit the space perfectly. I can’t wait for everything to get here over the next week! BTW — there’s a promo today that took an extra $200 off my chairs in cart!

5. Statement Accessories

We were in Texas this past month and fell in love with another Hill Country town — Fredericksburg. We loved perusing the shops on the main street but when I found the hat bar, I just about lost my mind over how they were embellishing bandanas, scarves, and western accessories. I definitely came home with a few pretties of my own 😉

6. A New Level of Coloring

I am unapologetically all in when it comes to my hobby era and one of my favorite ways to unwind is coloring. Specifically with alcohol markers and THESE cozy coloring books (way more relaxing that small designs and patterns in typical adult coloring books, IMO.) I am not artistic by nature, but playing around with these make me feel like I am. Put on an audiobook or record and it’s the best way to relax. I have a few sets of the markers now, but TBH, I should have just started with a bigger pack initially since I quickly added to my collection. *The brush tips are key!* There are several sets at a 30-day low on Amazon right now, HERE.

7. Kids Birthday Party Season

We’re right there alongside many of you on the birthday party front and some of our recent gifts include (one of my favorite go-tos), a stocked, monogrammed bag, book sets, and an elusive NeeDoh. This is Eliza’s gift to a friend this past weekend — by the way, I found THESE zipper fruit pouch bag charms for a fraction of a fraction of the price we paid at Nordstrom this past summer. And speaking of birthday gifts, don’t underestimate the paper and bows from The Dollar Tree. My fun wrap arsenal is made up of Dollar Tree paper, almost exclusively. And definitely grab those greeting card sets for a steal at Costco! Eliza just started using her wax seal with her initial on her birthday cards and the sweet little added touch comes out adorable.

8. The Refill Report Series

If you haven’t caught it yet on Instagram, or you aren’t on Instagram, I launched a new series a few months ago. The Refill Report is a month in review of not just the things I finished (my empties), but the things worth finishing and then restocking. 9. Analog Girls Afternoon

I was scheduled to host a girls pool day this past weekend but the temperature had other plans. So, I pivoted and prepped a girls afternoon with diamond art kits. 1. No one else had experienced diamond art (another one of my latest hobby loves), aside from me; 2. I ordered a kit for each person, matching their interests/aesthetic; 3. everyone LOVED it; 4. I’m now in love with the idea of analog girls days — picking a therapeutic activity that an be easily worked on while gabbing with your girlfriends. It was seriously the best and I can’t wait to do it again.

I know the tone of this post rundown was frantic and all over the place — kind of like how most of us are feeling right now in May-cember, haha. Nonetheless, here’s to all the lifestyle faves of spring 2026.
