Fully settled into my hobby mode, and thriving in my revival of home collections, I’ve been craving amped up ambiance. Not a lot of space is required for a small accent lamp (specifically little table lamps that are 12 inches or shorter) and they are a fool-proof way to add ambiance without visual clutter. They also fit in places traditional lamps can’t, create that layered, cozy lighting we all want, and feel collected and intentional. But, while they’re some of the most functional accents we can have in our homes, it’s less about lighting up a room and more about setting a mood.

I picked up the sweetest mini accent lamp with a scalloped shade, and I genuinely can’t decide where I love it more:
- My desk (for a soft, cozy glow while working), especially in the early morning/late evening hours, or when I close my shades to edit photos…

The Rattan Lamp Dilemma (and Solution)
I also ordered two small rattan lamps to test out on my small powder room vanity, because yes, even that space deserves a moment and I love a soft glow in any bathroom. One is rechargeable and one has a cord, but because I have an outlet, I honestly anticipated using the corded lamp in here. Here’s the cute cordless lamp — you tap the base and it has multiple light brightness levels. It doesn’t need a bulb as the light is integrated into the lamp.
And in a turn of events no one is surprised by (haha), the rechargeable small table lamp won for the powder room. Because, well, the black cord and the high outlet situation is less than ideal. There’s always the trick of clipping the cord and using a rechargeable light bulb, but I found a spot I love this little lamp even more 😉

The corded rattan lamp found its perfect home on my record cabinet in our bedroom sitting area, and I’m so excited to have a little light here so I can see what I’m putting on in the evening. This one also has free, fast delivery and is currently $38.99; it even comes with a bulb.

Where to Use Mini Table Lamps (The Unexpected Spots That Make a Home Feel Collected)
This is where mini table lamps really shine (see what I did there ;)). If you’re only using lamps in the “usual” places, you’re missing half the magic.
Kitchen
I’ve had a small accent lamp in the kitchen for years now and turn it on every single night. It’s my only glowing company each morning when I’m making my coffee in the dark and getting my family ready for the day. You can try it on a kitchen desk (where mine is), the counter in a corner, styled next to a cutting board or stacked cookbooks, or on an open shelf. It instantly softens a space that can otherwise feel very functional.
