January always feels like a style in-between. We’re in the thick of the coldest temps of the year and typically dressing in full-on layers, but with the new year, I’m already prepping, looking forward, and daydreaming of spring. This month’s looks were a mix of cozy staples I leaned on, a few new pieces I couldn’t resist adding, and outfits that just felt right for this season of transition. Consider this a January snapshot: what I wore, what I added, and what I loved… heavy on comfort, colors, layers, and dressier Sunday ‘fits that I’ve been embracing.

For sizing reference, I am 5’3″. These days, I typically purchase a small but as my sizes have shifted, it’s become more difficult to determine if something runs TTS or if it’s my sizing that has changed. For that reason, I will continue to try to note what size I’m wearing for your own discernment. At 5’3″, I typically do not purchase short/petite, but will note if I do! Also, there are some older pieces that are a little larger than what I would purchase if I had purchased new, but they are flexible enough to still fit fine.

The material, weight, and wide stripes of THIS sweater is perfect to segue into warmer months. It also comes in a pink and yellow! Also, THESE wide leg pull on jeans were the biggest surprise to me. I’m grabbing the light wash today while they’re 50% off!

Every closet needs a basic black blazer and while I used to have several, I ended up having to get rid of all of them. I was thrilled to add THIS one back into my closet. It’s a classic fit but my regular size still buttons comfortably with some room.

I couldn’t believe THIS wide leg jumpsuit — the fit, look, and the fact that it feels like wearing pajamas. I loved the black so much, I immediately ordered the rust color! The straps are adjustable and it’s on sale today.

This sweater/skirt/tights combo was one of my fave outfits of the month. I started with THIS skirt in one of the cute plaids and liked it so much, I ordered it in the basic black, too. Also, I’ve loved taking every opportunity to wear one of the brooches my mom gifted me from her classic collection 👀.

This belted coat was a find from our downtown Blue Ridge exploration day on New Year’s Eve — if you’re local to the North Georgia mountains, I adored Juliana’s Boutique, where this one came from. Also, 👀 that brooch 😉

As we head into February, I’m fully in repeat mode, reaching for the January outfits that worked, felt good, and earned their keep, while slowly sprinkling in pieces that nod to warmer days ahead. It’s that in-between season where nothing needs a full reset, just a little editing and a lot of re-wearing and appreciating the versatile and layerable pieces in my closet. I’m looking forward to letting this wardrobe evolve naturally as winter loosens its grip and spring starts quietly making itself known.

Super cute outfits and they look great on you! Target is great for these pieces, you just have to get in there early and snag them before they are all gone, so thanks for the heads up and how best to wear them.
Corinne, thank you! And agreed — they just tend to sell out so quickly!
You look fabulous, lovely outfits too 😍
Wendy, thank you for your sweet comment! xo
