First of all, I am totally overwhelmed and grateful for the reaction, support, and stories that have been exchanged following my last post on my weight loss journey (if you missed it, you can check that out HERE). Sharing something so vulnerable with you all was uncomfortable and scary, and your kindness helped transform it from shame to celebration. THANK YOU. On another note, Eliza is starting back to school in a few days and I am itching to get back to some home projects — specifically organization projects — starting with closets. If you’re feeling the same before we get into fall, stay tuned. For today though, closing out the summer craziness and right at the cusp of fall, I’m back to share a brand new Snack Around the Plate post, filled with all the latest randomness.

What is a “Snack Around the Plate”? Growing up, this was the phrase my mom called meals she would assemble with random favorites when scouring the pantry and fridge. And, while each item didn’t totally go together, assembled as one collective, I loved them! Basically, “Snack Around the Plate” posts are just a smorgasbord of randomness — “a little of this and a little of that” from all things lifestyle. It’s a mish-mosh highlight reel from a favorite recipes to favorite finds.
1. Aerie Fall Lounge & Athleisure Haul
I work from home, run my kid to activities, and make trips out of errands so my life pretty much runs on wearing loungewear or athleisure for 95% of the time. I do like a slouchy to oversized fit in my cozy clothes, which makes it easier when your sizing starts to change, because you can get away with continuing to wear lounge clothes for longer. Earlier in my weight loss, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on new clothes yet, and wanted to prolong the life of my wardrobe. Aside from some summer staples and church pieces, I tried to hold tight on my home and errand clothes. So, this past week was the first time I’ve allowed myself to get some new lounge and athleisure pieces as we head into a new season. I hit up Aerie (my go-to for comfies and transitional pieces) and was thrilled with their new inventory as fall approaches.
As an FYI (more of a caveat to make myself feel better, haha) — these photos were after a full day of outdoor shopping with a heat index of more than 100 degrees and it had just started raining. We were just off of a long but fruitful day 😉
I first tried THIS hoodie and not only did I love it so much that I knew I wanted to grab it in additional colors — it comes in 7 colors — (I also chose the taupey/oatmeal color and black, which is in transit), but I wanted to grab the pants for the option of a full set. Actually, I loved it so much, I paid full price and then went back for a price adjustment because they dropped it to 30% off!! Unlike most of my hoodies, this one isn’t fleece lined so it is going to be incredible for fall and winter, but especially the transition as we head into fall. IT FEELS SO GOOD. I also love that the neck has plenty of room and doesn’t feel like it’s choking you. Per usual (and I think with all my Aerie pieces), if you want more slouchy than big, you can size down one for a still generous fit. Here’s the olive hoodie with matching jogger pants…

The taupey/oatmeal natural color is PERFECT. You can kind of see some of the stretch detail a little bit better in this close-up screen shot I grabbed of the video.

I’ll be mixing and matching these separates all year long (I wear sweatshirts and sweatpants year round in my house). Great for leggings and shorts and tees, but here’s the hoodie with the joggers in navy. These pieces make the perfect travel set.

Here’s the hoodie with a different pant style I grabbed — a wide leg pant that tapers in just a tad at the bottom, which I love! This style is 40% off right now and comes in 5 colors. If you’re more of a wide leg sweat pant fan, you’ll love these.

Another piece I loved so much I paid full price and then went back for a price adjustment because they put it on sale for 30% off — THIS cozy striped quarter zip. This almost 5* rated piece is such a favorite, it sold out in almost all sizes, even at full price. They have been adding back in sizes occasionally so if your size isn’t in stock, continue to check back. It’s a little longer in the back (perfect for covering the bum in leggings), and I love that it has the thumb hole in the sleeve like Aerie does with some of their sweatshirts.
I will be wearing it with all kinds of bottoms but it does match the taupe joggers from earlier in the past perfectly. Apparently, it can be part of a set using THESE in green, too. And to transition/layer, I love it with shorts and a front tuck, too.

I also grabbed THIS waffled long sleeve tee with raw v-neck in two colors! It’s lightweight, versatile, and feels incredible. It comes in a bunch of colors HERE.

Here it is in green (again, I grabbed a screenshot from a video I recorded so it’s a little blurry). It also has the cozy thumb hole feature on the sleeve.

A few other stand-outs I haven’t yet grabbed photos of that I purchased…
- THIS bomber style zip-up sweatshirt. Over 2 orders, I actually grabbed 3 of them since they are now 40% off. This style is ADORABLE on. One of my favorite pieces in a long time.
- I lucked into stumbling on THIS mock neck sweater for 77% off and grabbed it in yellow! This one fits more true to size, FYI 😉
- THIS slouchy crew neck sweatshirt (I grabbed the purple color) for 30% off. My mom and I actually both grabbed this one, and also got THESE matching shorts (43% off!) to make it a set.
- THESE wide leg lounge trousers for 40% off. I grabbed the purple color and after trying the standard length size (which even at 5’3″ I typically prefer), I ended up ordering the petite length (also comes in long!). They’re still en route but I love the flowy, bouncy, lightweight material.
As a side note from my shopping day this past week, I grabbed THIS Elisa pendant necklace from Kendra Scott because the Dichroic glass stone drew me in from the window display. It comes in a bunch of stones and is their long time best seller, but the new dichroic glass takes on several different colors, depending on its surroundings, from pink/blue to yellow/green and even clear. I had them set it on a slide chain at the color bar so the chain is slightly different. Such a great layering piece.
And speaking of layering, my custom name necklace (comes in a bunch of fonts and chain options) is such a steal from its Etsy shop. It’s on sale with a starting price of $13.83, depending on chain length and letters.

2. Household & Baby Essentials Amazon Sale — Stock Up & Save (Spend $50, Get a $15 Amazon Credit)
I wanted to grab a few things for Eliza’s classroom and was surprised in the best way to find that Amazon was offering a household and baby essentials sale, where if you spend $50 on household items, you get a $15 Amazon credit. I stocked up on some back to school classroom stuff, as well as some regular things for the house! You can see everything that qualifies HERE.

3. Car Scuff & Scratch Remover
TBH, I have no idea how the scratches and scuffs appeared on my car, but they were all over it. The car wash was no help so I wanted to see what I could do on my own. I am shook after ordering THIS simple buffing solution, applying it with a microfiber cloth, and then buffing it off with a clean area of the same cloth. It recommends a sponge application but rubbing it on in a circular motion with the microfiber cloth worked perfectly. Here’s just a glimpse of one area of the car. If you have imperfections on your vehicle, I 10/10 recommend (of course, as always, test a small area first) 😉

4.Pretty, Budget Friendly, & Amazingly Scented Reed Diffuser
THIS $10 reed scent diffuser in one of my favorite ever scents (black honey vanilla), has been such a great surprise and delight. I also love how it looks! Grab one and try it in a small space (powder room, nightstand…) to start!

5. Anthropologie Halloween Bistro Tile Collection
I love the tiled bistro collection and have a few pieces now — Christmas initial mugs, year-round salt and pepper shakers, etc. — and I am totally loving the new Halloween pieces!

Even grabbing the adorable black cat mug for the season for a singular piece and hint of Halloween to enjoy your morning coffee…

6. Quest Protein Chips
These have been one of my favorite additions to my more protein-focused diet if I need a lunch side/snack and I was so surprised by how many of you ran out to buy them after my last post. They come in both tortilla chip and regular chip styles and in lots of flavors — there’s only one flavor I’ve ever had that I didn’t care for (salsa verde). Some of my top faves are the buffalo ranch, spicy sweet chili, nacho cheese, ranch, and sour cream & onion.

7. Target Kids 30% Off Shoe Sale
Just in time for back to school, Target has most of their kids shoes at 30% off right now! I think the sale ends either today or tomorrow, but it’s a great time to grab a few pairs to stock up. I was able to get Eliza THIS boot in both the tan and black for $14 each (!!), and grabbed THIS black mary jane that she’s had for the past several years for just $8.40!
