Hello and thank you for stopping by! My name is Kelley Nan. If you have reached this blog in search of a culinary expert, I apologize; you have reached the incorrect page. So, you may be thinking “if a ‘snack around the plate’ isn’t foodie-centric, what is it?”
Growing up, my mom would create Saturday lunches called “snack around the plate”. It didn’t consist of any main item, but was a combination of a bunch of little snacks that came together to form one meal. Later in life, I realized the “snack around the plate” which I thought was so special was likely more of an attempt to clean out the refrigerator (a practice still popular in my home of combining a bunch of leftovers into one bowl.) Regardless of origin or initial intent, the concept of not having to choose one single thing, but rather a little bit of everything, is a theme that has carried me through life. Would you rather have one chocolate cupcake or half of a chocolate and half of a vanilla? How fun is it to order fries while your partner orders onion rings so you each can have a little of both? See?
When I wanted to transition my blog to focus more on styling and decor, I thought that meant I would need to give up all other things I am passionate about. Would they even have a place on a interior-based website? Then, I remembered the “snack around the plate concept”. ingrained at an early age, I was taught variety is important and keeps things exciting. So, that is what this blog is. You will find a little decor here, a few recipes there… basically a mish-mosh of some of my most favorite things in life.
Welcome, stay a while, and let me serve you a snack around the plate.
