Trending Textures: Plaid Print

I, along with my house, have been wearing the same solids since spring – neutrals, blue and white in most rooms;  and black, with occasional floral in my outfits. I spent most of the year enjoying more minimalism and while I think I’ll be going that route (somewhat) in the cooler seasons, I’m ready to start adding back in some layers and a little pattern… like plaid. Gingham, tartan, buffalo check… you’ll probably see a good bit popping up in the next few months.

I have plans for these pillows in my bedroom – much different from my emerald green velvet master motif in last year’s home tour (HERE). These gingham napkins and all the adorable details are on the pricier side but can be used from fall harvest to Easter entertaining. I think I am going to plan for a blanket scarf post soon, and all the ways I put them to use – not just on myself, but around the house. This affordable pretty (available in several colors) is on sale for $15 (plus an extra 20% off) right now. If I was confident we would have the consistent cool weather to wear it, I would have already ordered this plaid coat; according to reviews, it sounds large enough to wear over those chunky sweaters.

If you’re in full-on seasonal celebration mode like we are in this house, here are a few ways to start bringing that unmistakable cozy pattern into your life.

    Hi Kelly,
I’m wondering how you like you new sofas? I’m looking to replace my Ethan Allen sectional that won’t wear out. I’ve had it for about 13 years and it looks brand new but goldish fabric from my Tuscan phase….
I was checking out Pottery Barn and the performance fabrics. I have one dog, non shedding (Maltie Poo) no kids. I like to entertain big groups at times. How are you feeling about your fabric and color choice?
Thanks so much for sharing all your great ideas. You are one of my favs

Hi, Debbie! What I can say so far is this- the fabric has been AMAZING. I have already had my share of dog dirt on there that I’ve easily removed with water. I’ still breaking them in but so far, they are wonderful. They are also pretty spacious and the grand size is large. Something else I will say though is that while the quality is nice, it is not Ethan Allen caliber (as reflected in the price). If you are looking for nice sofas to last a long time, these seem to be great (I’m SUPER happy with our choice) but if you are looking for some that are impossible to wear out, stick to EA 😉
