Red, White & Blue Board for the Fourth! July Board of the Month

Another holiday that may look a little different for most of us this year, we’re still determining exactly what our weekend plans are to celebrate the Fourth of July. We won’t be venturing out to the annual parade our city is still hosting but we are thinking about going to watch fireworks in a more secluded spot in town. I know the neighborhood pool will likely be pretty busy so I’m about 99% sure we’ll be working to create a festive picnic / grill out at home. If you’re planning to host this coming weekend, I’ve got a brand new sweet and savory appetizer board — dressed in red, white and blue — just for you! Whether you’re ready to pull the trigger and welcome guests this weekend or it will be a while before you entertain, a grazing board on the kitchen island is a perfect, casual precursor to your main meal. Or, maybe you’re having a few friends over to launch fireworks at home — sans meal; a versatile spread of snacks gives variety and options without the commitment. The details of July’s Board of the Month is simple, but patriotic. Make it now or pin/save it for later 😉

Red, White & Blue Fourth of July Cheese Board

This month, we brought it all out in our Fourth of July appetizer board — a little salty, a little sweet, a little creamy, a little crunchy… and while there’s a little bit of everything for everyone, it’s still intentional. I went a different direction and used THIS extra long lacquered tray (it’s a perfect bench tray, dresser tray, or rectangle-shaped coffee table tray!) and filled it with traditional and complementary cheese, fruit, nuts, and spreads but I expanded some of the offerings that may not have gone as well with bowls on the periphery — bar snack style.

A good idea for inclusion — that you don’t see here, haha — are cheese markers, especially when using white cheeses where it can be more difficult to guess.

You don’t have to have dedicated patriotic decor to make a fun statement, either. I located a star cookie cutter in our CHRISTMAS arsenal!

Nan, This one sure was a fun one to make! Plus, we discovered some new things to try along the way. Eliza loves those coconut strips. She made quick work of all of the fruit, too!
