Nighttime Christmas Home Tour with Magical, Glowing Twinkle Lights

One of my favorite Christmas traditions probably can’t even really be called a “tradition”- it’s more of an “ism”. Every day, even if I’m still working, I’ll take a break from whatever I’m doing to sprint through the house and flip on all the Christmas lights so Dave can come home to a warm, twinkling home. Dinner may not be a remote possibility on the table just yet, but quickly getting everything to semi-magical status has become one of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season. It’s such an easy way to love on him just a little more during the holidays.

With just a few days left until Christmas, I’ve joined several others to share just what that looks like. Each year, I look forward to hopping from home to home on Rachel of Maison de Pax‘s annual Christmas Night Lights Tour so I was quick to accept when she invited me to join this year. I’m not even going to get all wordy on y’all like I typically do (for more of the words, you can see my full-in-the-daytime-Christmas-home-tour HERE). Instead, we’re just gonna take a peek inside of everything all aglow, before you can head over to the next person on the Christmas Night Lights Tour. (I’ll direct you where to go next and I’ll also include a full list so you don’t miss a single one 😉 ). If you’re here from Aniko of Place of My Taste, I’m so glad to have you! I actually took a photography class from her at a conference a couple summers ago and still study her beautiful photos all the time! Such a talent. If you have never visited with me before, over here we do a little bit of entertaining, a little bit of organization, and a lot of gracious living. I’d love for you to subscribe to my email updates HERE so we can can to know each other more in 2018. To my regular readers, thank you for visiting with me this season and throughout the past year – it’s been an adventure.

I said I wasn’t going to chat much today but I should’ve known better haha. We’re actually visiting with family and will be coming home just in time to enjoy a final evening of magic. We may be in Florida but we have a frozen lasagna, a couple of cute pups, and a house full of twinkling lights waiting on us back in Georgia. Just to clarify before you start imagining our Christmas Day filled with tv dinners, I actually intentionally made a (homemade) lasagna just before we left and froze it so we would have something delicious but pre-prepared after our long drive home 😉 This is what I can’t wait to enjoy for just a little longer…

I would say that 75% of the season has been spent here, in our bedroom; I even turned our bed into my holiday office haha. This little scene right here is why I think it is TOTALLY worth it to invest setting up a tree where you sleep.

I’m so glad you stuck around for me to usher you through our home, pre-Christmas Eve. Next, you are definitely going to want to head to my friend KariAnne’s of Thistlewood Farms. I have joined and shared her over the past year during other seasons (remember her epic fall decor?!) and she is absolutely wonderful. After you visit with KariAnne…

This was so pretty to see at night, thank you so much for sharing, as I find it harder to decorate each year, with pulling out so much Christmas decorations, it is wonderful to see what other families are enjoying And I hope there families appreciate the time and effort put in to so much work.

    • 12.22.17

Lou, thank you! I totally agree and this year, just didn’t bring it all out. Instead, I used more ribbon and simples things to Christ-ma-fy some of the decor I already had out 😉 Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas!

Hello dear, can I ask you that, how did you make the star effect on the lights? (With star filter?)
I love your home, it’s amazing!

Hi, Bianca! I shoot in manual mode and when I set a super slow shutter speed, I am able to get the starburst effect 😉 I hope your holidays are wonderful, also!

Your house is a delight to look at.Beautiful vignettes interspeted all over the house .One question I do have is …how do you hang your wreaths on mirrors? Do you use Command Strips? I am always scared it will ruin the finish on the mirrors.

    • 12.30.17

Hi, Lorri! I do use command hooks but I use the no-damage kind. I’ve never had a problem and they leave zero residue but if you have something you are skeptical of, I would test first in a non-obvious area. These are what I use (affiliate) http://amzn.to/2zQVs4Q

How do I purchase these lights to go on my Christmas tree

    • 8.24.23

Thank you for visiting, Millie. All of the trees and garland shown in this post are pre-lit. I did not have to add individual lights to any of the items.
